‘500,000 DA Hits’. By: DaleCar. From Seleneboxer to DaleCar in four months – Exactly. What I mean by that is back in the middle of November, 2010, my good friend Seleneboxer did a special rendering for me depicting my hitting (via the picture of one girl hitting another) 450,000 hits on my DA Site. Now, another good friend has offered to create another picture, this time depicting two boxers punching each other simultaneously. Both taking hard blows to the body to commemorate my 500K of hits, all of which will occur in the middle of March 2011. I am so grateful to all my viewers who took the time to wander over to my site and were responsible in my going so far so fast. I mean, who would have thunk it – 50,000 solid hits in four months. My Lord, half way to a million.
The artist’s name is Dale Carodiskey, who wishes to go by the name of his DA Site: ‘DaleCar’. The artist and I had a working title of: ‘Another POV’. ‘POV’ meaning ‘Point Of View’. Some point. Some view. Our intent was to give more than a ‘worm’s eye’ view of a boxing match. What we have done is visually place the two fighters on a glass floor and we, the viewers, are looking straight up through the glass. Of course there is no real glass floor – As is much of life (especially politics) in America, it’s all illusion.
On a personal level my primary intent, other than an astonishing POV, was to portray this match in a feminine context. As such one boxer is hitting the other in the breast, and the other is simultaneously punching her opponent in her ‘Mound Of Venus’, or to be a bit more graphic – Her pubes. These two women are trying to hurt each other – Bad. And doing so by punching at those areas which are uniquely female. Or to put it another way, each is attacking the other’s femininity. To be blunt, boxing is not a game, it’s a sport. And it’s a unique sport in that you don’t play boxing. You play tennis, or play baseball, but if you play boxing, two gloves will be handing your head to you. A lot of what is known as ‘ring generalship’ is a mindgame. When a fighter steps into the squared circle, it is with the intent to get out of it as fast as possible. The paradox is if she is ‘A Boxer’, then she has to be patient to go round after round pounding away at the body in order for the other woman to drop her gloves out of exhaustion and then go for the fight ending head shots. On the other hand, or glove in this case, if she is ‘A Puncher’, then she will tear into her opponent with whirlwind of punches to put her down as fast as possible.
One last point and it refers to a tennis term: ‘The sweet spot’. A tennis racket has a ‘sweet spot’ whereby the ball bouncing off that spot will do (or go) exactly what (or where) the player wants. Boxing also has a sweet spot, or in this case a sweet punch. Or ‘Sweet jolt’. Not for nothing is boxing called ‘The sweet science’. The smallest regulation amateur and professional size of boxing gloves are 8 ounce. And that is the size these girls are wearing. Why, so small? Because of punch feedback. When two women are going all out to pound the other into humiliating defeat they will wear what the pros use – The tried and true 8 ouncers. There’s a hundred years of history behind that size. When amateurs use that size it is the weight used in professional fights and as such both boxers are fighting for 'real'. No sparring with 16 ounce pillows, instead digging into the other's body and slamming the face with the size that has stood the test of time. And that size also sends feedback when you have landed that 'sweet jolt' of a punch that crunches against an opponent's face or head - And body.
Now to the artist. Dale recently told me, “Drew, with the price of gas going up the way it is, I think I’ll take in some commission work.” Needless to say, if anyone wants the best in the business to do a render, Mister Carodiskey is your man. We don’t want him to run out of gas, do we? Finally, a goodly number of Dale’s renderings can be found on his ‘DA’ Site at: DaleCar. He also has original pieces in a Yahoo group called: Deadlywomen. He has also uploaded files to Templars 3 Galleries: Sexy Amazons, Deadly Amazons and Dark Comix.
‘Nuff said, Drew.
Except to add, that again DaleCar’s DA Site link is: [link]
