‘650,000 DA HITS - The Parting Shot’. Rendering by: Majorfann.
‘The Parting Shot’ is the working title that J. Anthony (the artist Majorfann) and I gave this masterpiece. And it is. Also, this picture has a long history. So here goes:
From Roboman28 to Majorfann in four months. What I mean by that is at near the ending of February, my good friend and artist, Roboman28 (Alan Robertson) did a special rendering for me depicting a defeated boxer whose body and face looked like it had just received 600,000 hits in just one match. And that picture was titled: ‘600,000 DA HITS’, and celebrated my receiving 600K hits on my Deviant Art Site. Here is the link to that masterwork of art: [link]
Now, another good friend, JA, whose name is J. Anthony, has created a picture visually showing my DA Site garnering 650K Hits.
I am so very grateful to all my viewers who took the time to wander over to my site and were responsible in my going so far so fast. I mean, who would have thunk it – 50,000 additional solid hits (figuratively) in four months. To think, more than half way to a million.
This is a ‘Glamour Picture’, which on the face of it is normally a contradiction in terms. How can a picture of two women boxers, who are all sweaty and bruised and punching each other senseless, be considered glamorous? Well, here is that contradiction, and if one is searching for one word to describe this visual phenomenon, try: ‘Beautiful’. Nothing quite like this has been done before and as such this render is rather unique. Now, is there precedent? Sorta. A literal ‘glamour’ picture of a female boxer was created some time ago. Say 50 years ago, and when it appeared caused quite a sensation. It was an advertisement by the Maidenform Bra Company and in 1961 ran in a number of magazines and was titled: ‘I dreamed I was a knockout in my Maidenform bra’. Here is the link to that ad: [link]
Anyway, this stunning work of art was conceived to celebrate my hitting (so to speak) ‘650,000 DA Hits’. So here it is.
The following is the writeup for the initial render that started out as a WIP (Work In Progress) and its shortcomings were to be tweaked to the extent necessary to make it a ‘Final Picture’. However, try as we might, the artist, Anthony, and I just couldn’t make it work. So we started over and here is the revised and finalized version. This following writeup pretty much details what the objective of the WIP picture was, and in the main is apropos to this work of art. Here is the link to that initial work of art: [link]
“Before the viewer is the first step in the ‘Act Of Creation’. It is a ‘WIP’, and stands for: ‘Work In Progress’, and that is what this picture is. The artist, J. Anthony, is doing a picture for me to commemorate the upcoming 600,000 DA hits on my DA Site. What I wanted to do is use one of his newest creations, ‘Lola’, and feature her in an original rendering. She is one of the most stunning women created by anyone in the Deviant Art community and needs to be showcased. Majorfann agreed, and here is the first example of how we are marching toward a finalized conclusion. Most often a vision of a picture first starts out in the mind’s eye, and only after it’s created is a title attached to it. However, in this case all that is reversed. The title ‘The Parting Shot’ came to mind first and then I sought out a way to make it visual. Lola had to be the centerpiece of the picture and that is why I approached Majorfann. Together, we came up with a scenario whereby on the left side would be another fighter who has been completely knocked out of the fight and is hanging on the ropes. She will either be counted out by the referee with the rope still supporting her, or she will fall to the canvas. Either way, before that happens, Lola is shown delivering the last punch of the fight – To then walk away to her corner. Thusly ‘The Parting Shot’. Or blow, or punch, or what have you. It is an underhanded (underfisted?) punch, crawling with meaning. Foremost it is a contemptuous blow. As can be seen, the Blonde is unmarked, signifying she wasn’t in a tough fight. Consequently that final blow is to show her contempt for the other fighter’s lack of boxing prowess. Secondly, that glove is slamming into the essence of her opponent’s femininity, clearly showing that Lola is the better woman. I could go on, but you get the idea. In itself, this is a great picture but it has some flaws. For one, the punch to the pubes doesn’t have enough force behind it. The artist and I wanted to see two things happening at once. The first is the parting shot and Lola in the process of walking away. As can be seen, it isn’t working. So now we start to tweak the render. The second is the right side of the picture has too much space, and to solve that will take the addition of a referee. And so on. Anyway, here is the first shot of the parting shot, so enjoy. The final is still months away.”
‘Nuff said, Drew. Except to add, here is the link to majorfann’s DA Site: [link] Also here is his DA avatar link:
Excellent work by JA. The body language of the woman on the right, with how her feet are propelling off the mat as her back arches over the ring ropes, really give that low blow the impact it deserves.
This is great ! The blonde bombshell is pure Marilyn Monroe . Now let's put her in a brutal battle with a Dorthy Dandrige look a like for the Ladies Championship.
