‘In The Beginning:Progression-2'. This is the twenty-fifth in the series: 'In The Beginning'. By ‘;Progression’ I mean the previous ‘In The Beginning-The 7th One’ rendering was a very early drawing, and served as the model for this drawing by a different artist. This one was used in one of my illustrated novels. The progression is it is more detailed, the lines are bolder and the style more powerful. Both were inked, and the pose is the same, but what a difference in technique. Anyway, in the beginning there were only inked black and white illustrations for my first books. Then I changed to artists who used shading, and those renderings were printed in the half-tone technique for later books and booklets. What was in my mind's eye was made visual for the first time. I had already written some short novels and wanted to bring them to visual life, so to speak. From the first I intended that everything I wrote would be illustrated. I said, in the beginning, when I first started publishing illustrated books under the Brand X Publishing name, there were only inked black and white illustrations for those first books. I was concentrating on my writing; the illustrations were only there to give a visual aspect to my prose. This is a prime example. Later I changed to artists who used a multitude of shading techniques, and those renderings were printed in the half-tone technique for later books and booklets. Here is one of those very first works. Upon reflection, after all these years, they still have a power all their own.

A considerable improvement over the original draft. The shading here brings the image to life. Wish they would have put a floor under the fighter. That would have given the image a little depth.
Originality is hard to judge. As it stands I don't see anything very innovative in the image alone. With the story attached its a little better. But I'm not sure its fair to judge the image with the story in consideration.
Impact is good. Not great, Clinches just aren't the most exciting part of most fights, at least in my opinion. Still the girls are attractive. The colored girl in particular stands out. Just wish she was doing more than standing there
