MWBO = MasterWorks By Others. ‘MWBO: Dirty Pool’. This is the title the artist, Richard, gave it. And I’m not about to change it as the words and scene are apropos to the title. This is one of the most dramatic female versus female fistfighting pictures I have ever seen. It visually defines the word: ‘Primal’. What is depicted here is not sport, this is primal hate. Perhaps it is race based. If so, it still does not take away from its power and ferocity of action. And there are those who would add that in its own way – Its horrific primal beauty. How great an artist is Richard? Well, as far as I’m concerned, my admiration for his creative genius is unbounded. If you judge his regular wrestling, boxing, and fistfighting paintings in visual terms, they are, in the main, ‘over-the-top’ renditions. But that is what makes Richard 57 so unique and visually powerful. And that is what is made clear in his paintings allure, both their power and ferocity of action. And there are those who would add – Its primal beauty. This artist, and film-maker, from Argentina used to have a web site he called: ‘Richard 57’, but later closed it down. He also supplied some his work to a web site called: ‘Mortal Wrestling’ but it has also closed down. Now, my good friend Ed Hunter of STJ Productions has obtained the rights to these images and has given me permission to upload some of them on my DA Site. When Richard had his site open he displayed his paintings, drawings, and renderings of women fighting in a number of different settings. At the time his pictures were among the best art work ever displayed on-line. They were technically brilliant, and full of emotion. Many of them are of photographic quality, but always over-the-top in dramatic effect. And here they are again. ‘Nuff said. Drew.
