‘Plains Of Africa – The Frontside’. Rendering by: Roboman28

This is not the title the artist, Alan Robertson, gave this splendid piece of artwork. I changed it because he had done a previous African Warrior which he titled: ‘Plains Of Africa’ and I added ‘Backside’ to the title because that is what she was showing.
Here is the link to that previous render: [link]
He received a number of comments from viewers wanting to see what her front side looked like, and this render is the result. Alan, the artist, had titled this equally stupendous picture: ‘Plains Of Africa 2’. I modified the title by dropping the ‘2’ and adding ‘The Frontside’ – Because it is. Now, there are times when I’ll modify this artist’s titles, and this is one of those times. What I won’t modify is my opinion of his artistic genius. To be added, there are some works by this artist that are perfect in my eyes, and I have no suggestions to make on how to improve them. And this is one of those visual stunners.

As concerns this render, here is what the artist had to say in his ‘DA Artist’s Comments Section:

“Yes I know such full hair does not look very African. Treat it as a fantasy work. But maybe someone will tell me African girls have long hair in country X”

In his own succinct way, the artist says it all. For this is a vision (And she sure is a ‘Vision’) of a European’s view of Africa – Mister Robertson is British.

Because of our large number of people of African heritage (going back over two hundred years) living here in the ‘States’, we Americans have our own view of Africa. And one such view is amply conveyed by me in the large number of ‘African-Americans’ I depict in the artwork I commission and feature in my DA Main and Group Sites. As is in this render, they too are warriors – Only in what I depict, they are wearing boxing gloves. But in both cases, our Black Women are fighters.

Now, this is not one of Alan’s ‘Epics’, but in its own way another superb work of artistic craftsmanship. In his epics, Alan can be a bit gory at times, and this is a beautiful change of pace. And yet he has created a render that is ‘In Deed’ beautiful, and the added elephant and her baby is a nice touch.

That said, I’ll now conclude with the following I’ve written about Alan’s works before, but still bear repeating:

As in both life and the arts, there is the mundane, and then there is the spectacular; and a number of pictures have been presented in this DA Group that are ‘In Deed’ classic. However, there are a small number of pictures that are so spectacular that they demand a special place of their own. But their numbers are so small that for practical reasons I just can’t do it. So they have to somehow fit within this Group – But their sheer brilliance will make themselves known. And here is one example.

I might add that no language has as many words as English, which totals approximately one million. In that vast array there are a few words which stand for something special. Something very special – A uniqueness of expression and feeling that is absolute. As concerns this picture it is: ‘Pantheon’. In Rome there is a temple that was built 2,000 years ago, and in this Pantheon are buried the painter Raphael, and the composer Corelli, to name but a few. As such, the building and the name have come to mean those few, those very few, who are highly regarded as the greatest contributors to a specific endeavor – In this case, the arts. Be it music (Beethoven and Wagner), paintings (Rembrandt and Picasso), sculpture (Michelangelo and Rodin), and literature (Shakespeare and Herman Wouk), all have stood the test of time; actually the ages, of those who have changed the way we see things. And in the main, for the better. There are other contributors to the other arts, and I could go on about them, but you get my meaning. Therefore I wish to nominate an additional member to join that august group and it is one called: Alan Robertson. For in the field of displaying the horrific beauty of combative women and men in both mortal and immortal combative activity, this artist has to be ranked at the pinnacle of the visual arts. Simply put, with this superb masterpiece dedicated to depicting the grim brutality of Roman Arena fighting, he has entered that Pantheon of the arts.

‘Nuff said. Drew.
