Roxie Rocket Fini. French word that literally means: The end, or finished. In this case the last of the panels of the 'Roxie Rocket' series by Danny Ryan. With this new fight beginning between these two rival women you'd think Danny would continue the series. But he didn't, and just left his viewers hanging in anticipation. Cruel artist - He. I consider this cartoon series Roxie Rocket as one of the greatest works of cartoon artistry ever created in the combative women genre. It was a collaboration, with Danny Ryan doing the illustrations and Lobrow doing the coloration. Ill let the pictures speak for themselves. Finally, to address the Deviant Art censors on this series. STJ Productions has acquired the rights to display these Danny Ryan pictures and has given me written permission to upload them on my site. The owner is a good friend of mine here in L.A. As an aside, it is in his boxing ring that the various Big Bucks underground fights were conducted - The pictures of some of these fights previously uploaded on my site.
This I really like. Done against a dark background the colors really pop. The artist created a scene with two uniquely different characters, and good action. The Sci-Fi setting gives the potential storyline a lot of directions to go. In a lot of ways, thats why most of my own work is set in science fiction or fantasy settings. It allows a lot of freedom for story developement. Technique here is outstanding. As I said before I think this series may have been colored in photoshop or something similar. Might be wrong, but thats my guess. This particular image has a lot of impact, particularly if your the gal in green. Its a pity this is an unfinished series. Be nice to see the rest
Ah nuts, you're kidding? This WAS the end? I wanted to know how it ended, Sasha or Roxie, Roxie or Sasha. A gyp, I want my money back, these tickets they sold were for a full show, d'oh!
what an absolutely fantastic series! because of various computer woes, I've missed much of the unfolding fight as it was posted, so it was a wonderful treat to come back to find so much to enjoy!
Apart from the astonishing artwork, I really enjoyed the twist of having the dirty fighter come back after the other seemed to be gaining the upper hand! The turn-around, and having the 'heel' win, was unusual to see and very definitely another 'hot button'!
Thank you again for sharing this - it was a delight to follow
Yeah, I look upon it as: 'Ryan's Masterpiece'. His one hit wonder. Though an excellent illustratior, he never created anything close to this again. Glad to see you're with us again. I missed you. Drew.
